r and u — above the bumps

You learn the r and the u: your index fingers reach straight up from the bumps.

How to find the key

  1. Stretch your left index finger from the f up to the r.
  2. Stretch your right index finger from the j up to the u.
  3. Put them back on the bumps after every key.

More examples

ru ur ru

  1. Tap the r with your left index finger.
  2. Tap the u with your right index finger.
  3. Return to the bumps each time.

rid sure

  1. Type rid: reach up for the r, then the i with your right middle finger, then the d.
  2. Press the space bar.
  3. Type sure.

Try it yourself

This is best practised in the real exercise, where you click, drag or tap yourself.

Practise this

Watch out

  • You tap the r with your middle finger because the d is close.

The r is an index finger key. Your left index finger goes straight up from the f.

Tips

  • Your index fingers do the most work, so they are the ones to practise.
  • Return to the bump after every reach.

Why it works

The r is above the f and the u is above the j. Your index fingers know these places because they rest on the bumps. Reach up, tap, and return to the bump.
