How to find the key

  1. Rest all your fingers on the home row.
  2. Read the word and type it without looking.
  3. Go back to your place on the home row after every letter.

Try it yourself

This is best practised in the real exercise, where you click, drag or tap yourself.

Practise this

Watch out

  • You speed up as soon as you recognise the words, and then the mistakes come.

Keep a steady speed you can hold for the whole line. Accurate comes before fast.

Tips

  • Read the whole word first, then type it.
  • Go back to your place on the home row after every letter.

Why it works

Knowing the keys is one thing. Moving from key to key is another, and that is what typing is. In a word the letters come in the order you really meet them. Every word here uses only the keys you have learnt.
